Homemade Basic Chicken Broth

A good chicken stock is one of the most important things we try to keep in our fridge or freezer for quick, healthy soups or stews.


Here is a basic soup recipe that can be used to make chicken noodle soup, chicken and dumplings or just about any soup that calls for chicken broth as the base.

Cream of Chicken Soup

There are plenty of reasons to avoid canned soups and opt instead to make your own soups at home.  Not only are canned soups made of questionable ingredients, they are often void of the minerals and other nutrients found in homemade soups.

But what about making those cream soups which are called for in many recipes?  Well, that is easy as can be!  Here is how we make a Cream of Chicken Soup.

Creamy Tomato Avocado Soup

This favorite is the healthiest tomato soup recipe you'll find - packed with nutrients and a secret ingredient that they will never know is there.  I never liked tomato soup much, until I tried this.  Now we have it all winter long!

Turkey (or Chicken) Bone Broth

If you are fortunate enough to have access to a farmer who raises pastured turkeys (organic pastured, even better) then you certainly don't want to waste even a little of it.  We're always learning how to stay healthy while still stretching our food budget.  This is one of the best ways right here!


It's worth the extra cost to get a poultry raised on pasture and the cost isn't all that much more when you consider how many meals you can get from just the one turkey.


After cooking a turkey after Thanksgiving or Christmas, you can get continued goodness from the turkey carcass by making this turkey bone broth (or soup broth as I call it.)

Fried Green Tomatoes

When tomatoes are in season this is a favorite of ours!  A great treat because green tomatoes are typically only in the summer and fall.  We sell nearly 1/3 of all our tomatoes green for this reason!

Cucumber & Tomato Salad

Here is a favorite recipe for us during the late spring and summer months.  We usually are blessed with an abundance of cucumbers, tomatoes and onions and with all the hard summer work, we rarely feel like a large or hot meal during the day.  This is the perfect snack or side dish for summer!
