End the day with a lesson on bee keeping and a visit to our little farm store.  This is a great tour for all ages.

Food Preservation Tour

9:45am - 2:00pm

This tour is for those who desire to learn to can and preserve their own food.  We’ll give you the basics and then you will get to can your own tomatoes and take them home with you.  Included is a short farm tour to give you the basics of how the whole farm operates.  While working at canning tomatoes, you’ll be served snacks to keep your energy high!  This tour is recommended for ages 12 and above.  There is more lengthy and detailed instruction that might be a tad boring for the younger listener.

We know some children are quite patient, can remain seated and listen for longer periods of time, and might enjoy learning the process,  so we will leave it to you to decide.

If you decide to bring a younger child, he or she will not be permitted to leave the area or visit animals while the canning process is going on.  Please be prepared to keep your child with you at all times for the safety and enjoyment of all.

Price $20.00/adult

$10.00 ages 8 and up

**Younger than 8, with special permission, contact us if you have a request.

You will receive an extended farm tour (approx. 2 hours) where you will learn about our rotational pastures, winter housing for animals and how that equates to compost for our gardens.  You’ll learn about raising meat chickens, laying hens and dairy goats and some of the special care and considerations that should be made before deciding to raise them.  You’ll also get some specific gardening and soil tips as well as a stack of information to carry home with you.  At the end of the day, you’ll see a goat milk soap-making demonstration and have some time to visit our farm store or ask any additional questions.  This tour is good for all ages, however younger children would likely enjoy the “Family Education Tours” a bit more due to the additional variety it offers.
