Our lips are susceptible to drying out more than other parts of our body, at least it seems so.  They are always exposed to the elements and while working on the farm in all types of weather, we've experienced some very chapped lips.

 Lip Butter

Some lip balms actually make this situation worse because they contain ingredients that dry the lips even more, which in turn makes you apply more balm, and then can turn into an addicting habit that isn't helping you or your lips!  Other lip balms act by creating a barrier that sits on top of the skin and locks out any moisture it might be getting from the air

When making our lip balm, we avoid ingredients that are found in many stores brands today such as, fragrances, artificial
.colors, menthol, camphor and phenol (can dry lips and cause redness), alcohol (a drying ingredient), Salicylic acid, aloe butter (an irritate lips).
Our homemade balm is designed to help seal in moisture by actually sinking
in to your lips. It also won’t leave a thick barrier.

Meet our Ingredients:
- Organic Beeswax

- Essential oils
- Jojoba oil
- Vitamin  E oil (optional-great for skin-cancer fighting ingredients, but can be irritating to some)
- Organic Coconut oil

We use beeswax because it acts as an emollient (moisturizer) as well as a protector from the elements.  But more importantly, it is what gives the lip balm a stiffness and body so it can be easily transported and applied.

The coconut oil will not coat and smother skin like petroleum based products (yuck), and it moisturizes deep down.  The fatty acids hold onto moisture and help reinforce the skin's lipid (fat) layer, which promotes hydration.

Jojoba oil is ideal for healthily hydrating skin and hair because it mimics the natural oils our bodies produce.
